Blog Hop Interview - Tag, You're It!!!

When I was recently invited by my writer friend Neil Winnington, to partake in this blog hop interview, I jumped at the chance.  Being a fledgling erotica writer I've never had the opportunity to do anything like this before, so naturally I feel rather honoured to have even been considered.  A few weeks ago Neil was asked to participate and nominate three other writers to answer the same questions I will be answering today.  I was thrilled when he tagged little old me, along side two more established writers, Charming Man and Marie Rebelle.  Find out more about these incredible writers here, and be sure to check out their blog hop interviews.

I'd also like to take a moment to thank Neil for his endless support and belief in me as a writer.  You can check out his responses to the questions here:

So, without further ado, let's get started with the interview, shall we?

What are you working on right now?

I'm currently working on my first eBook, The Chauffeur, which I hope to have completed and ready for publication some time during early 2014.  So far, I'm finding the process very exciting, if not slightly daunting.  It's completely new territory for me.  The story focuses on an illicit encounter between a young woman and her chauffeur.  After breaking down in the middle of nowhere and unable to call for assistance, they find some naughty ways to amuse themselves.  It covers the topic of outdoor/public sex, which I find very arousing.  There is something seriously hot in knowing that you could be caught at any time.  The stories I have written to date are relatively short and sweet. They cut to the chase and get straight down to the nitty gritty with minimal anticipation.  Within this book I'm trying to be more descriptive.  I want to set a good scene with a slower build-up to the act itself and include an element of romance.  On paper, the story hasn't even got into full swing yet, but I know exactly where it's going.

How does it differ from other work in its genre?

I wouldn't say that it differs tremendously from a lot of other erotic short stories I have read, I haven't really made a conscious effort for it to do so.  I'm really just concentrating on finding my feet and working to develop my personal writing style.  However, I suppose I could argue that it is unique in its own right, as it comes from my mind and my fantasies.  I'm certainly allowing my inner pervert a free rein with this.  What turns people on varies from person to person and this is my take on an outdoor sex scenario. Whether it will arouse those who read it still remains to be seen, but I do sincerely hope it has the desired effect.  For me when I read a story, especially within the erotic genre, it has to be believable.  I find it easier to connect with the characters and the plot line if I can relate to it in some way.  So that's what I hope to do, create something that people will find sensual but also realistic.  I'm sure as I evolve as a writer my ideas will be become more perverted.

Why do you write what you do?

I'm glad you've asked me that.  I'm quite a sexual person and when I'm not engaging in the act, I think about it a lot! I'm also a total fantasist and the simplest of things can trigger a dirty thought in my mind.  I've always been a bit of a book whore and partial to a racy read.  The first erotic book I ever read was Forever by Judy Bloom, when I was around 15 years old.  It was quite controversial in its heyday, as it dealt with teenage sexuality and was very graphic for a book aimed at the teenage market.  I do seem to remember it was banned at my school for that very reason.  It was the first time I'd ever been turned on by something I'd read and I became hungry to digest more books like it.  Sadly nothing else came close.  I then progressed to the odd Jackie Collins and Jilly Cooper novel in my late teens.  I devoured their explict words, much to the dismay of my parents, who viewed that kind of thing as being being porn on paper.  After joining Twitter in 2012, I discovered a wealth of great erotic writers on my timeline.  My kindle suddenly became jam-packed with erotic stories that I'd downloaded after following the writer's links.  I was once asked by a writer friend if I'd ever thought of having a go at writing myself.  She thought that with everything I'd read, I must surely have some good ideas as a basis to write something of own.  At first I laughed it off; yes, I love reading, but I had certainly never entertained the thought and certainly didn't believe I had the flair to become a budding writer.

Earlier on this year my personal circumstances changed.  A series of events led to a discussion with friends about life being too short and the importance of seizing opportunities while we still can.  We decided between us that we were each going to try something new.  That was when I decided to try my hand (no pun intended) at writing erotica.  For a few months I'd already been writing my thoughts on paper, as a means of dealing with what was going on around me.  What I wrote was expressive and even though my punctuation totally sucked, I thought maybe I did have the potential.  Combining my love of sex and the written word suddenly became an appealing hobby to me.  I immediately put pen to paper and within days I had the first draft of my story, Lust Junction. You can view other things I've written here: http://angelgonebad.blogspot.co.uk/?m=1

I write mainly for my own pleasure.  I love the therapeutic value it provides me, whilst allowing me to become completely incapsualted in my own fantasies.

How does your writing proccess work?

Hmmm.. That's a good question. I wouldn't actually say I have a strict proccess.  It usually starts with an idea that randomly pops into my head, quite often when I'm out shopping or have no pen and paper to hand.  I've found myself rushing to get home before now, so I can make a note of my thoughts as quickly as possible.  Once I have my idea, I have a brainstorming session.  I determine my starting point and how I want my story to end, the bits in the middle come later on.  I then start to think about my main character, deciding on who he or she is and from which perspective I'm going to tell the story.   I decide upon the secondary characters, outline a brief plot, then I just go for it.   I'm still a total novice and probably need to become a bit more organised in that area, but I suppose that will come with experience.  As long as I get the words down on paper when I plan to, then I'm happy.  I love the emotions that writing sex scenes can draw from me.   I'm right there, as that person in the scene.  It's totally draining, but in the nicest possible way.

Well that's the interview over and I must say I enjoyed being under the spotlight for a short while.  I hope this has given you an insight into what makes me tick... Next up to answer these questions on the 21st October  are some of my other amazing writer friends:
